Designed as an indented cube imparting a clear image, the building sits at an angle to the other site elements which emphasises its sense of place. This clear form and associated landscape areas placed on the plateau presents a ‘genius locii’ with an instant message for visitors.
Integral within the design of the complex are a number of features which aid in the reduction of the energy consumption of the building.
Solar shading – provided by frame panels, access platforms and planting frames for summer shading.
Roof gardens – creation of micro climates and sustainable habitats. (Green roof construction)
Offices will be naturally ventilated by the stack effect of the atrium. Public areas with high ceilings allied to stack effect of atrium allows natural ventilation with localised extract/cooling for conference and kitchen area. Adjustable louvres at roof level of the atrium allows for purge venting when required in the summer.
