146 Apartment refurbishment
Two existing council tower blocks are converted into 146 private units with associated communal area, new landscape and car parks. The towers were stripped out and refurbished on each floor providing a combination of 1 and 2 bed flats with new windows and balconies treatment. An additional studio flat was created on each floor by converting the former drying area in the common lobby. i.e. 26 additional flats were created in the scheme. 6 Penthouses and 1 duplex flat were inserted into the top two floors of each block.
Accessibility to the towers within the estate is greatly improved to meet the current standards. Lifts were replaced and taken up to penthouse level to allow disabled access to all levels of the towers. Car park areas were re-designed with a consistent gradient to achieve easy access.
The new proposed recreation facilities consist of a gym, hot spa and landscape with piazza. Gym and residents storage are located on ground and first floor in each tower respectively.
Security is improved by reinforcing the existing boundary wall and providing a controlled entrance gate incorporating a 24hr CCTV system. The boundary fence to main entrances was replaced by a solid rendered wall which echoes the landscape retaining wall.
